What is shamanic journeying?
A journey is an astral trip. Shamanic practitioners use it to convene with spirits—to get messages and guidance—and to do personal and collective healings. Years ago, journeying would have been a common practice for all. It doesn’t require special talent, shamanic lineage or psychedelics. All you need is an open heart, a clear sense of purpose and a willingness to learn. We are all capable of finding our own medicine within.

More on journeying
Not unlike a daydream, the journey space feels out-of-body while still in the here and now—be it, a slight shift in consciousness. In many ways, journeying is a bridge between our material earthly life and our greater spiritual home. Through this practice you can convene with compassionate spirits in the earth (lower world), in the sky (upper world) or throughout this plane (middle world). This is induced through drumming, rattling or dance but the process is simple. Close your eyes and lie down, stand up, sit down or even dance—set a clear intention—and let your guides and the spirits do the rest.
At first, journeying may feel like the land of imagination but know it’s where the healing begins. One may see, feel, smell, hear, taste in a journey; each experience is unique and none is better than the other. What’s most important is that journeying is a personal tool to reconnect and remember our authentic and divine self and align with our way.
Note: This work is safe and requires no prior knowledge. All you need is an open mind and heart. Additionally, shamanism is a revered and deep practice. Share what you’ll learn in these sessions with friends and family, but know that taking an intro class or joining a journey circle does not qualify you to offer or teach shamanic ceremonies for others. Thank you.
